EIU Office of ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Graduate Assistantships
The Office of ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ hires one Graduate Assistant each year. We aim for a two year commitment when possible.
Applications are reviewed in the spring for positions beginning in the fall. To apply, please submit a cover letter and resume. Priority consideration is given to applicants who submit all materials by February 15.
Previous experience in ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ or a related area is preferred. Applicants with an EIU undergraduate degree are also encouraged to apply.
This position may include occasional weekend responsibilities.
Position Description
EIU Office of ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Graduate Assistant
Department: Office of ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´
Hours/Week: 18-20 hours/week
Contract Dates: August 1 – May 15
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with the day to day operations of our ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Student Ambassadors. This includes helping set expectations, scheduling, and evaluating student performance.
- Assist with the coordination and implementation of Student Ambassador training.
- Assist with interviewing, selecting, and hiring Student Ambassadors.
- Provide presentations to groups, prospective students, and families during group visits, daily visits, and events.
- Manage all Office of ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ social media accounts. This position should understand the enrollment process and be able to effectively and creatively connect with prospective students, families, and external agencies through our social media platforms.
- Lead postcard nights with our ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Student Ambassadors. This includes scheduling the nights, preparing necessary information and materials, working evening shifts to supervise, and setting expectations.
- Monitor and respond to all emails and questions directed to our online Billy the Panther helper bot.
- Interpret admissions policies and enrollment procedures and effectively communicate the core benefits of EIU during informational presentations and participation in on campus events.
- Provide strong follow up communication to external stakeholders, including prospective students, counselors, faculty, and staff, via myeiu, phone calls, SMS messaging, and email.
- Complete other duties as assigned by your supervisor and or the Associate Director or Director of ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´, including assisting with Future Panther Tailgate, Honors Visit Day, Open Houses, Admitted Student Days, and similar events. Data should be tracked for each duty, with timely analysis reports provided.
- Consistently exhibit outstanding customer service with both internal and external stakeholders, including EIU colleagues, administrators, staff, and prospective students.
- Attend staff and recruiter meetings and participate in office initiatives with a willing, team oriented attitude.
- Research best practices and emerging practices within the ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ field related to the recruitment of new freshmen and transfer students.
- Demonstrate the ability to embrace change and operate professionally in a changing work environment.
- Work occasional nights and weekends.
