Civil Service Performance Appraisals FY2025

Civil Service Performance Appraisals:

It’s time to begin the annual performance appraisal process for Civil Service employees. Performance appraisals are a critical tool for aligning individual performance and goals with the university’s mission, helping to foster an engaged and purpose-driven campus community.

Performance evaluations should reflect employee contributions between July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025. After a meaningful discussion with the employee, the completed form must be signed by the employee, their supervisor, and the department head or director. Please send the original, signed evaluation to the Human Resources department by end of day, July 18, 2025.

You can find more information about the performance appraisal process by visiting: EIU Performance Appraisal Process. For detailed guidance, please review the Performance Appraisal Handbook.

Access the current Civil Service Performance Appraisal form here: EIU Civil Service Performance Appraisal Form.

Why Performance Feedback, Coaching, and Recognition Matter

The performance appraisal process is a powerful opportunity to support employee development and reinforce our shared mission at Eastern Illinois University. Providing clear, constructive feedback helps individuals understand their strengths and growth areas, while coaching fosters skill-building, critical thinking, and resilience in a dynamic academic environment.

Recognition, whether formal or informal, validates employee contributions and boosts morale, engagement, and retention. When supervisors invest time in these practices, they not only promote career developm, ent and personal fulfillment but also align individual goals with the university’s strategic priorities. This alignment is essential for sustaining a culture of excellence in teaching, research, and service.

If you would like guidance or support in writing or delivering appraisals, please reach out to Fantasy Sharrett, Director of Human Resources, at fdsharrett@eiu.edu
