EIU Board of Trustees meeting results: June 12, 2025

(Charleston, IL) — Eastern Illinois University’s regular June Board of Trustees meeting took place Thursday, June 12, in EIU’s University Union, located on its Charleston, Illinois-based campus.
Outcomes of the meeting included:
- Approval of a fiber safety loop that will create network, phone and fire alarm backup connections to maximize campus safety and communication.
- Approval of the FY26 preliminary budget and management of reserves. The next fiscal year’s budget requests are sent to the Illinois Board of Higher Education in October; funds are finalized the following May, and typically issued and made available in July.
- Approval of EIU’s CY26 board meeting dates.
- Approval of contracts extensions for Kristi Paulson, head softball coach, who led the Panthers to a 34-20 season and Ohio Valley Conference Championship, as well as a second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in Austin; and for Jason Anderson, head baseball coach, who led the Panthers to an overall record of 31-22 and a 2025 OVC regular season title after going 17-7 in conference play. Both coaches’ contracts were extended through June 2030.
- The election of Joyce Madigan as the Board of Trustees Secretary via a secret ballot. The position was made vacant after a non-renewal of a membership from the Governor’s Office.
- Updates on Student and Faculty Creativity at the Tarble Arts Center by Department of Art & Design Chair and Professor of Art Dr. Christopher Kahler.
