Daily Crime Log

The Police Department at 杏吧原创is required to create, maintain, and make available an easily understood daily crime log. The daily crime log must include the nature, date, time, general location of each crime that occurs within the institution鈥檚 Clery Geography, and the disposition of the complaint, if known. The University Police Department must make the entries available within two business days of the report of the information, unless the disclosure is prohibited by law or would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim. The University Police Department may withhold this information if there is clear and convincing evidence that releasing it would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or safety of the individual, cause the suspect to flee or evade detection, or result in the destruction of evidence. However, UPD must disclose any withheld information once the adverse effect is no longer likely to occur. The University Police Department is required to make the crime log for the most recent 60-day period open to the public inspection during normal business hours and any portion of the log older than sixty days available within two business days of a request for public inspection.

2025-10-14	Theft E-Scooter	Campus	On October 14, 2025, at approximately 7:18 a.m., a report was filed regarding the theft of an e-scooter. The complainant reported that the scooter had been taken from the bike rack outside Taylor Hall. The scooter had been left unsecured and was not locked at the time of the theft. Upon reviewing surveillance footage, the responding officer observed a suspect on video taking the e-scooter at approximately 4:06 a.m. on the same date. Case Status: Open 鈥� Open Investigation.
2025-10-13	Stalking	Outside Clery Geography	A Campus Security Authority reported receiving information from a student stating that a person known to the student has been following them around the city of Charleston, IL. The incidents occurred on October 1 and October 13, 2025. (Unknown location of occurrence and time of occurrence)
2025-10-14	Criminal Damage	Campus	On October 14, 2025, at approximately 11:32 p.m., while on foot patrol, an officer discovered criminal damage in Lot 鈥淓.鈥� The damage is believed to have occurred between 10:00 p.m. and the time it was discovered. No surveillance footage available. Case Status: Inactive Investigation.
2025-10-14	Drugs Use and Drugs Possession	Residential Hall	On October 14, 2025, at approximately 10:50 p.m., a Campus Security Authority reported detecting a strong odor of marijuana on the fourth floor of Andrews Hall. University Police officers responded and confirmed the odor, which was determined to be coming from a specific room identified by both the Campus Security Authority and the responding officer. The individual associated with the room is under 21 years of age. Marijuana was confiscated. Case Status: Referred 鈥� Dean of Students.
2025-10-14	Drug Use	Residential Hall	On October 14, 2025, at approximately 10:50 p.m., a Campus Security Authority reported detecting a strong odor of marijuana on the ninth floor of Andrews Hall. University Police officers responded and confirmed the odor, which was determined to be coming from a specific room identified by both the Campus Security Authority and the responding officer. The student occupant and a non-student guest, both under 21 years of age, were identified. Case Status: Referred 鈥� Dean of Students.

2025-10-16	Fighting	Patrol Zone	On October 16, 2025, at approximately 4:46 p.m., UPD officers assisted CPD in locating an individual who fled on foot from a reported fight that occurred near the 1300 block of 3rd street. The individual was located on eiu campus and transported back to the original location.

2025-10-19	Motor Vehicle Theft	Patrol Zone	On October 19, 2025, at approximately 8:59 p.m., UPD assisted the Charleston Police Department in attempting to locate a motor vehicle reportedly taken without permission from the Chubby鈥檚 parking lot. The incident occurred earlier that day, at approximately 8:55 p.m. This case is classified as an other-agency assist.
2025-10-17	Criminal Trespass	Patrol Zone	On October 17, 2025, at approximately 11:23 p.m., UPD assisted the Charleston Police Department in attempting to locate a subject who had been criminally trespassed from Marty鈥檚 Bar. The suspect was located and arrested by CPD. This incident is classified as an other-agency assist.
2025-10-17	Criminal Trespass	Patrol Zone	On October 17, 2025, at approximately 6:54 a.m., UPD assisted the Charleston Police Department in attempting to locate a subject who displayed a hatchet inside McDonald鈥檚. The suspect was located, identified, and issued a criminal trespass warning. This incident is classified as an other-agency assist.
