TRANSFERRING TO EIU

EIU is one of the best ranked public universities in Illinois. If you make the decision to transfer from another university, the process will be easy and simple. Our international counselors are also available to guide you.

Applying for a transfer

When admitted, you will need to provide copies of your Form I-20 (F-1 students) or Form DS-2019 and form I-94 (J-1 students) along with this transfer form.

EIU also has a scholarship for international transfer students. Applications are made .

International Course Transfer Process

Step 1: Evaluation

An international student who seeks to transfer university (or post-secondary) courses for credit from a university outside of the United States to Eastern Illinois University should use one of the following evaluation agencies:

Please work with these agencies to assist in evaluating your transcripts in order to gain course credits at Eastern Illinois University. Be sure to purchase an evaluation that includes course descriptions.

Step 2: Articulation

The student should submit the transcript evaluation(s) to his or her academic advisor. The advisor will then forward the transcript evaluations to the college certification officer, who will use a standard form for documenting equivalencies with EIU courses. The completed form will be approved by the Dean who is responsible for the Office of International Students and Scholars. The college certification officer will then forward the approved form to the Registrar for entry of credit(s) into the student’s EIU transcript.

If you have any questions or concerns, our international counselors will be happy to guide you through this process. Please feel free to contact our office at (217)581-2321 or via email interntl@eiu.edu.
